18. Apollo and Masyras by Jose De Ribiera seen at Guggenheim 2/25/07. Religion no longer has a place in most people's lives. In the works of the Spanish painters in the El Greco to Picasso it is rife in the early days. The Gods are to perfectly disassociated and unaffected by the torture of mankind.

19. Still Life with Candoon and Parsnips by Juan Sebastian Cotan seen at Guggenheim 2/25/07. This was a surprise to me. I hate still life. Yet, from the other side of the museum I saw this work, fantastically detailed piece and had to see it, twice and then put it on my list.

20. Imperial Violets by Salvador Dali seen at Guggenheim 2/25/07. A great Dali, genuinely original without too many of the overly drammatic, overly stylized Dali themes. I hate the long legs, the ants, this has so much to look at that is new and in a color scheme that is very un-Dali, seen only in his Elephants in the Reflection of Swans.

22. Heritage of Pontoise by Camille Passaro seen at Guggenheim 2/25/07. I saw this and could picture myself there, overlooking the town on a sunny day. It was a humble, small country town.

21. Don Sebastian De Mora by Diego Velasquez seen at Guggenheim 2/25/07. An interesting subject, in a time period where beauty was in the eye of the artist De Mora was captured perfectly and looks amazingly resplendent.
